Arrival in Marrakech
Welcome to the captivating city of Marrakech! Immerse yourself in the vibrant energy as you arrive at any time. The city is a sensory feast, filled with the alluring scents of spices, the rhythmic sounds of musicians, and the dazzling colors of the bustling souks. In the afternoon, join a welcome meeting at a designated time and place (details will be confirmed upon arrival). You’ll then be transferred to your comfortable riad or hotel, where you can check in and relax after your journey.
DISCOVER the High Atlas and Dades Valley
After a satisfying breakfast, we embark on a scenic journey south towards Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. Our adventure begins with a thrilling ascent through the Tizi n’Tichka pass, offering breathtaking views of the majestic High Atlas Mountains. As we travel through Berber villages, we’ll witness the captivating contrast between fertile valleys and arid hillsides dotted with ancient Kasbahs. A highlight of the day is a stop at the fortified city of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, we reach the stunning Dades Valley, settling into our comfortable hotel accommodation.
Embracing the Desert Landscape
Today, we delve deeper into the desert landscape. Leaving the Dades Gorges behind, we make our way towards Merzouga, stopping at the Todra Gorge and the Tinghir palm grove along the way. Upon arrival in Merzouga, nestled amidst the Erg Chebbi dunes, prepare for an unforgettable experience. We’ll embark on a camel trek into the heart of the dunes, arriving at our traditional Berber tents for the night. As the sun dips below the horizon, witness a breathtaking desert sunset followed by a delicious dinner under a blanket of stars.
Desert Delights and Agdaz Oasis
Awaken to a magical desert sunrise and enjoy a final camel ride back to Merzouga. We’ll then transfer to Agdz, a charming town nestled within the Draa Valley. Along the way, we’ll stop to connect with Berber families and enjoy a traditional mint tea ceremony. In the evening, we’ll settle into our comfortable hotel or riad accommodation.
Unveiling the Argan Route and Taroudant
Today, we hop back into our minivan and venture towards the lively market town of Oulad Driss, often referred to as “Little Marrakech.” The journey offers scenic desert landscapes and a chance to spot the unique argan trees. Keep your eyes peeled for the famous sight of goats climbing these trees in search of nuts! We continue to Taroudant for the night.
Essaouira, a Seaside Escape
In the morning, explore the bustling souks of Taroudant. Afterwards, we bid farewell to the High Atlas Mountains and head west towards the charming coastal town of Essaouira (approximately a 5-hour drive). Essaouira lives up to its name with its picturesque whitewashed houses adorned with bright blue shutters. Explore the art galleries, wander the ramparts, or simply relax on the beautiful sandy beaches.
Exploring Essaouira at Your Pace
Today is a free day to explore Essaouira at your own leisure. Whether you choose to delve deeper into the town’s history, relax on the beach, or indulge in delicious seafood, the day is yours to create lasting memories.
Returning to Marrakech
After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll transfer back to the bustling city of Marrakech, where you’ll spend your final two nights in Morocco.
