YOUR JOURNEY

Daily Expedition.

Day 1

Unveiling the High Atlas and Ait Ben Haddou

Our journey begins in Marrakech, weaving through the stunning High Atlas Mountains. Conquer the Tizi n’Tichka pass, reaching a staggering 2260 meters! Breathe in the fresh mountain air and admire the dramatic landscapes. We’ll also stop at a local Argan oil cooperative to learn about this unique Moroccan product. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, delve into history with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site, Ait Ben Haddou, a magnificent kasbah. Our day concludes in Ouarzazate, where a traditional hotel awaits for dinner and a comfortable night’s rest.

Day 2

Dades Gorges and the Gateway to the Sahara

Refueled by breakfast, we journey back through the Dades Valley, marveling at the fascinating rock formations known as “the monkey toes.” We’ll also encounter the historic 19th-century Kasbah of Ait Yul. Leaving the Dades behind, we head towards Tinghir and the Todra Gorges. Prepare to be awestruck by panoramic views of ancient mud-brick Berber villages clinging to the valley walls. Arrive at the Todra Gorges, a natural wonder where towering 300-meter cliffs provide a haven for rock climbers. Our path continues to Erfoud and Rissani, where we’ll savor a delicious lunch. Finally, we reach the charming village of Merzouga, greeted with a refreshing glass of mint tea before settling into our accommodation.

Day 3

Exploring the Desert and a Night Under the Stars

After breakfast, embark on an adventurous exploration of the region. A 4×4 guide will unveil the secrets of the Sahara, including a visit to the “village of the blacks,” descendants of Sudanese slaves, where you can experience their unique music and lifestyle. We might also stop by the scenic Lake Merzouga, a haven for diverse birdlife, including flamingos. Explore the nomad wire house, offering Berber handicrafts at lower prices compared to the bustling cities. As the afternoon arrives, prepare for a thrilling camel trek into the heart of the Erg Chebbi, a sea of mesmerizing sand dunes. Tonight, experience the magic of the desert under a blanket of stars. Choose between a traditional Berber nomad tent or a comfortable riad – the choice is yours! Savor a delightful dinner under the starlit sky.

Day 4

Sunrise Spectacle and Ziz Valley Journey

Rise before dawn with your camel guide to witness a breathtaking sunrise, perhaps the most memorable of your life. After the enchanting sunrise, camel trek back to your Merzouga riad for a rejuvenating breakfast. Our journey continues towards Medilt, traversing through the towns of Rissani and Erfoud. In Rissani, immerse yourself in the vibrant local souk, bustling with colorful spices, dates, and lively conversations. We then travel to Errachidia, following the magnificent Ziz Valley. Take a moment to appreciate the panoramic views over the dramatic Ziz Canyon before continuing to Medilt.

Day 5

Cedar Forest and Arrival in Fes

After breakfast, we depart for Fes via Azrou, a Berber village nestled within the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, stop and observe the playful Barbary macaques in the famous Cedar Forest. Our final stop before reaching Fes is the charming “French village” of Ifrane – a perfect opportunity to capture some photos or enjoy a refreshing drink. Finally, arrive in Fes, your final destination, and settle into your chosen accommodation.

Cultural Etiquette

Morocco is welcoming but conservative. Dress modestly (shoulders/knees covered) when visiting villages or rural areas to show respect.

Best Time to Go

Spring (Mar-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) offer the best weather. Summers can be hot in the south, while winters see snow in the Atlas.

Currency & Tips

Cash is king in remote areas. Carry Moroccan Dirhams (MAD). Tipping (5-10%) is customary and appreciated for good service.
