Day 2

Aït Youl (1,500 m) – Tafoughalt Plateau (1,600 m)

After breakfast, we set off towards the Saghro mountains, crossing small villages around Kalâat M'Gouna — the Rose City — at the foot of the volcanic Saghro massif. Night under canvas on the Tafoughalt plateau near a well, frequented by the nomads of the Aït Atta tribe. Approx. 5 h 30 walking.

Day 3

Tafoughalt (1,600 m) – Tagmout Pass (1,900 m) – Assaka (1,500 m)

One hour's walk to the Tizi n-Tagmout pass (1,900 m), then a short descent to the village of Tagmout. A canyon framed by rocks leads to the village of Assaka (1,584 m). Night under canvas beyond Assaka.

Day 4

Assaka (1,584 m) – Ighazoun (1,250 m)

We descend this magnificent valley through a succession of small villages: Tajalajt, Berkou and Tifdassine — where locals live from their goat and sheep herds. Lunch under the almond trees. In the afternoon we cross a small pass before descending into the Ighazzoun valley. Night under canvas. Approx. 5 h 30 walking.

Day 5

Ighazzoun – Tadaout N'Tablah – Bab N'Ali (1,416 m)

We cross Ighazzoun village and climb to the Tadaoute N'Tablah plateau, at the heart of a rocky cirque with a surreal landscape. We then reach the famous Bab N'Ali gate (1,416 m) — towering Precambrian metamorphic sandstone pinnacles that can be admired from many angles as the light changes.

We continue through the Assif n-Afourare gorges to the small oasis of Boualouz, passing cereal fields and almond groves. Cultural Etiquette

Morocco is welcoming but conservative. Dress modestly (shoulders/knees covered) when visiting villages or rural areas to show respect.

Best Time to Go

Spring (Mar-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) offer the best weather. Summers can be hot in the south, while winters see snow in the Atlas.

Currency & Tips

Cash is king in remote areas. Carry Moroccan Dirhams (MAD). Tipping (5-10%) is customary and appreciated for good service.
